You want to get started with WhatsApp marketing but don’t know how? You're lost in the endless sea of multi-messenger and CRM solutions? You can't find any meaningful and reliable information about WhatsApp Marketing? And you just want to find the right WhatsApp marketing provider for your needs?
What is WhatsApp marketing software?
A WhatsApp marketing tool is a software or platform that helps businesses organize and optimize their marketing activities via WhatsApp. WhatsApp is a widely used messaging app, and many companies use it to communicate directly with customers, advertise, and provide customer service. A WhatsApp marketing tool – as WhatsApp software – offers various features to make this communication more efficient and effective.
What can you do with WhatsApp marketing software?
There are a wide range of features available with WhatsApp marketing software. Here are the most important ones listed for you:
- Automated messages (e.g. welcome messages, automatic replies to FAQs, campaign messages)
- Newsletter marketing similar to email marketing (sending WhatsApp newsletters)
- Sending discount codes for specific occasions (e.g. Black Friday offers)
- Customer support via WhatsApp (a very popular use case)
- Shipping notifications in e-commerce
- and much more
What should you look for in WhatsApp marketing software?
When selecting good WhatsApp marketing software, there are some features and characteristics that should definitely be included. To identify a quality WhatsApp marketing tool, pay special attention to the following features:
- Compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR compliant)
- Easy integration with existing CRM systems or other marketing software
- User-friendly interface
- Automation capabilities
- Contact segmentation
- AI chatbots
- Comprehensive analytics and reporting
- Pricing
Also pay attention to customer reviews and testimonials about the respective WhatsApp marketing tool online. These already give you a good indication of whether the software is useful or not.
WhatsApp marketing software: 10 providers compared (incl. comparison table)
chatarmin.com is, of course, not completely neutral when writing this blog post about the best WhatsApp marketing tools. We would place ourselves at number one and obviously want to present ourselves in the best possible light. Therefore, this blog post does not reflect a ranking, but rather a list and an attempt to offer a holistic, transparent, and honest comparison. How well we manage to do that… we’ll see.
All WhatsApp marketing tools have their strengths and weaknesses. No single tool is the best for everyone. That’s why we’ve looked at the most common and popular WhatsApp marketing providers and analyzed them for you.
Here is the quick overview that compares all relevant WhatsApp marketing providers across different categories. Time is money – so if you don’t want to read the entire blog post:

1. Chatarmin
chatarmin.com is your perfect WhatsApp CRM if you need an affordable, “lightly managed” SaaS solution that won’t leave you alone with WhatsApp marketing – and already includes everything you need or delivers it quickly on request.
We focus on marketing applications for D2C brands using the Shopify & Klaviyo tech stack in e-commerce.
You get maximum flexibility, full support, and an attractive price/performance ratio. As founders, we stand behind the company with our names and faces – and we can’t afford dissatisfied customers.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider chatarmin.com:
- Flexible delivery of your personal feature requests and customer-specific needs
- Clear focus on verticals like e-commerce, retail, and franchise
- Small, accessible team
- Bootstrapped startup that must act in the customer’s best interest
- No conversation surcharge on top of the already high WhatsApp Business API costs (WhatsApp Business Solution)
- Integration options into your customer support suite, allowing one WABA number to be used for support, sales, and marketing
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider chatarmin.com:
- No complete multi-messenger customer support suite – no native support for Instagram DMs, Facebook DMs, Telegram, SMS, email, etc.
- Missing integrations with less commonly used APIs such as Prestashop or Oxid
- Extreme product focus on e-commerce, retail, and franchise – meaning limited flexibility for enterprise-level updates in other industries
Software pricing
Our prices start at €99.00 per month, and we are available weekdays from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM via our shared Slack Connect channel or by email.
2. Lupiter – the unknown challenger from Düsseldorf
Giuseppe Ruffo founded “Lupiter” in Düsseldorf in 2019. €200,000.00 in pre-seed funding promised a great first product and a quick path to product/market fit. Unfortunately, not much has happened since then. The website contains spelling mistakes, and you’ll search in vain for case studies or credible customer testimonials. On LinkedIn, the “Lupiter GmbH” shows no additional employees, and it’s doubtful whether the company is still active. Giuseppe’s dream of building a “standout chat marketing software for higher open and conversion rates than email” sadly seems to have gone unfulfilled.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Lupiter:
- Affordable pricing
- Hands-on mentality and premium support from the founder due to a small customer base
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Lupiter:
- No in-house product development
- No case studies or customer success stories
- No professional reviews
- Low marketing or LinkedIn activity from the founder
- No follow-up investment since 2019
Software pricing
From €25.00/month.
Despite a well-designed website and a great company vision, we unfortunately cannot recommend working with the WhatsApp marketing tool Lupiter.
3. Whatsmojo – the underdog for small businesses
The situation with “Whatsmojo” is slightly – but not much – better than with Lupiter. We inquired about customer reviews. None of the companies listed as sample clients on the website have actually built or scaled their WhatsApp marketing using this tool. It is therefore doubtful whether Whatsmojo is still in the race to be the best “WhatsApp marketing provider” in the DACH region.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Whatsmojo:
- CTO as founder, in-house product development
- Affordable pricing, suitable for first steps
- Basic Shopify integration
- Basic WhatsApp marketing features like logic flows, campaigns, and analytics
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Whatsmojo:
- No case studies or customer success stories
- No professional reviews
- Low marketing or LinkedIn activity from the founders
- Low brand awareness
Software pricing
From €49.00/month.
Despite a well-designed website and a great company vision, we can only recommend working with Whatsmojo if you are a very small company with minimal revenue and want to validate WhatsApp marketing in a first step. Be sure to contact the founders in advance to check whether the product is still “live” and maintained.
4. Trengo – Klaviyo partner, but not much behind it
When Trengo publicly announced its official partnership with Klaviyo in spring 2023, we were concerned about our positioning and our business. Would we have to worry about losing our core customer base – D2C brands with a Shopify store and Klaviyo CRM as their source of truth? None of that materialized, and our concerns turned out to be unfounded.
To date, Trengo has failed to deliver a meaningful Klaviyo integration that offers D2C brands with a Klaviyo CRM any real added value.
The self-proclaimed “Customer Engagement Platform” was founded in 2017 in Utrecht, Netherlands, and has since raised over $36,000,000.00 in funding.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Trengo:
- Operational flexibility of the tool
- Serves sensitive sectors such as healthcare, public institutions, and government bodies
- High-level support and service for every customer
- Extensive chatbot functions and logic
- Easy-to-integrate Klaviyo app in the Klaviyo marketplace
- AI development for translation, speech recognition, and automated campaign creation
- Many showcase clients, testimonials, reviews, and case studies
- Annual bot report and in-depth analysis of the chatbot market and its development
- API integrations with Zapier and Shopify
- Multi-messenger solutions for all relevant messaging channels
- Established, transparent company from Scandinavia
- Large investment volumes leading to rapid growth
- Strong chatbot functionality and support analytics
- Professional sales and support team
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Trengo:
- No specialization in a specific vertical – a very flexible solution that tries to serve all industries but won’t focus on your niche case and individual needs
- Very limited or nonexistent API integrations with common DACH eCommerce tech stacks, especially CRMs like Klaviyo, Emarsys, or Omnisend
- No German-speaking sales or support team
Software pricing
From €110.00/month.
We especially recommend Trengo for large or institutional companies that want to align with the broad use cases found in the Messengerpeople testimonial landscape, or simply want to cover customer support use cases.
5. Chatwerk – solid German multi-messenger chat suite
The biggest problem for the above-mentioned company was the lack of professionalism in the sales process and the absence of integrations with Shopify and Klaviyo. Therefore, Chatwerk cannot be considered a serious solution for D2C brands or eCommerce businesses.
According to the Chatwerk website, current integrations include “Numbirds” and “Hubspot.” There’s also a “Unified Messaging API,” but we couldn’t determine how extensive or useful it actually is for businesses.
As a multi-messaging solution that covers basic customer support needs and can be used for campaign sending, Chatwerk is certainly sufficient. Building highly professional sales teams is a huge challenge for every startup with a structured sales model, so we absolutely don’t hold the Chatwerk team accountable for this one experience.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Chatwerk:
- German team with approachable customer support and active founder
- In-house product development with programming based on customer feedback
- Established company with trustworthy case studies and reviews
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Chatwerk:
- No eCommerce integrations with Shopify, Klaviyo, Omnisend, or Shopware
- Limited in-house knowledge of eCommerce best practices
- No support or sparring for eCommerce use cases or KPIs
- Non-transparent pricing and potential uncertainty regarding long contract terms, cross-sales, or upsells
Software pricing
From €69.00/month.
Chatwerk is a well-established and trustworthy tool to unify and analyze your multi-messenger inboxes in one dashboard. For support use cases, Chatwerk has become a standard solution that is widely used across various industries.
6. WATI – multi-messenger customer suite as a YCombinator22 startup from Asia
Wati is a YCombinator22 startup from Hong Kong and one of the fastest-growing business service providers. According to LinkedIn, Wati currently has 89 employees and claims to serve over 6,000 customers. While Wati appears to have integrated two common DACH-region shop systems – Woocommerce and Shopify – we weren’t able to determine how advanced these integrations really are.
Moreover, there are no CRM integrations available, which we consider essential for any serious WhatsApp marketing provider. Without access to email KPIs, segments, interactions, and customer activity, targeted segmentation and efficient use of your WhatsApp marketing budget becomes difficult.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Wati:
- Sufficient funding and a generous runway thanks to millions in investment
- YCombinator startup, indicating a validated use case
- Impressive product with extensive features
- Professional sales approach and customer support team
- Broad multi-messenger engagement suite for standard SMB needs
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Wati:
- Non-transparent pricing and quick up- and cross-sells
- No German team or German support
- No knowledge of the German eCommerce tech stack, best practices, or buying culture of German-speaking countries
- Poor UI/UX for tool handling
- Inadequate coverage of WhatsApp marketing use cases
- No integrations with eCommerce CRMs such as Emarsys, Brevo, Klaviyo, or Omnisend
Software pricing
From $49.00/month.
So for Wati, the same applies as for Botsify, Verloop, Sinch Engage, or Gupshup: Without a specific niche requirement, it's a solid multi-messenger customer support suite you can confidently use for your multi-messenger needs.
7. Verloop – the Indian giant in institutional multi-messenger operations
The Indian company “Verloop” has no specific industry focus and therefore doesn’t aim to be a WhatsApp marketing provider. Instead, it wants to be an “all-in-one stop shop for customer engagement.” In our demo calls, Customer Support Account Manager Newton was hard to understand, but he was very committed, asked good questions, and genuinely tried to find the right answers and solutions with us. This customer orientation and interest in client needs is anything but standard in B2B sales and left a very positive impression.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Verloop:
- B2B focus and servicing of sensitive sectors like healthcare, public administration, and government institutions
- Support and service for every customer
- Extensive chatbot functionalities and logic
- AI development for translation and speech recognition
- Many showcase clients, testimonials, reviews, and case studies
- Annual bot report and in-depth analysis of the chatbot market
- Solid chatbot features and support analytics
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Verloop:
- Time zone difference with India and Southeast Asia – no real-time support
- Non-transparent pricing
- Language barrier due to difficult-to-understand English with strong accent
- Very limited or nonexistent API integrations with standard DACH eCommerce tech stacks like Shopify, Shopware, Klaviyo, or Omnisend
- Focused on the Asian market, no local contacts or teams for German clients
- No focus on retail, franchise, or eCommerce
Software pricing
We’ve not been able to get current pricing information from Verloop. We estimate the cost is around €100.00 per month, similar to other lower-tier solutions like Verloop or Botsify.
We only recommend Verloop to large or institutional organizations that want to align with the broad use cases featured in Verloop’s testimonials and don’t require personal German-language support or handshake-quality service.
8. Gupshup – another Indian messaging giant
During our demo day with Gupshup, Sales Lead Urvashi Singh did a great job introducing us to the platform. The UI/UX was pleasant and easy to use. Gupshup shines with strong English SEO and a large number of case studies on bot deflection and chatbot automation.
It’s important to note that Gupshup is not a specialized WhatsApp marketing provider, but rather focuses on the customer support use case. Gupshup’s multi-messenger functionality is solid, and unlimited support agents can be added.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Gupshup:
- Affordable and transparent pricing
- B2B focus and servicing of sensitive sectors like healthcare, public administration, and government institutions
- Support and service for every customer
- Extensive chatbot functionalities and logic
- AI development for translation and speech recognition
- Many showcase clients, testimonials, reviews, and case studies
- Strong chatbot features and support analytics
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider Gupshup:
- Time zone difference with India and Southeast Asia – no real-time support
- Language barrier due to difficult-to-understand English with strong accent
- Unprofessional or uninformed sales teams with limited advisory expertise
- Very limited or nonexistent API integrations with standard DACH eCommerce tech stacks like Shopify, Shopware, Klaviyo, or Omnisend
- Focused on the Asian market, no local contacts or teams for German clients
- No focus on the specific needs of DACH companies, neither in support nor product development
Software pricing
Pricing is not publicly listed.
Gupshup is not suitable as a WhatsApp marketing tool but is very well suited as a customer support suite for companies that do not place high importance on German-language customer service.
9. Messengerpeople / Sinch Engage – the German multi-messenger startup dinosaur
“Sinch Engage” – widely known as Messengerpeople – is one of the most established (multi-messenger) startups in the DACH startup scene and is definitely a serious WhatsApp marketing provider. Let’s start with what we see as Messengerpeople’s two main issues:
An outdated UI/UX and high pricing.
Since the recent acquisition by Sinch and the associated rebranding to “Sinch Engage,” it appears that product development and design have stagnated.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider “Sinch Engage” / formerly Messengerpeople:
- Operational flexibility of the tool
- Servicing of sensitive sectors like healthcare, public administration, and government institutions
- High-level support and service for every customer
- Extensive chatbot functionalities and logic
- AI development for translation, speech recognition, and automated campaign creation
- Many showcase clients, testimonials, reviews, and case studies
- Annual bot report and in-depth analysis of the chatbot market
- API integrations with Shopify and Shopware
- Multi-messenger solutions for all major messaging platforms
- Established, transparent company from Bavaria
- Strong chatbot features and support analytics
- Long-standing reputation and credibility through the successful exit to tech giant “Sinch”
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider “Sinch Engage” / formerly Messengerpeople:
- Expensive pricing that can quickly become even more costly
- No specialization in a particular vertical – flexible solution that tries to serve all industries but won’t focus on your niche and specific needs
- Very limited or nonexistent API integrations with standard DACH eCommerce tech stacks, especially CRMs like Klaviyo, Emarsys, ActiveCampaign, or Omnisend
Software pricing
From €199.00/month.
We only recommend Sinch Engage (formerly Messengerpeople) to large or institutional companies that want to align with the broad use cases in Messengerpeople’s testimonial landscape or that solely want to cover the customer support use case in a multi-messenger fashion.
10. Hello-charles – Cool hype from Berlin with an expensive but impressive product
It was one of the most hyped startups in the DACH founder scene in 2021 and 2022. The hype around WhatsApp marketing is still strong and is directly associated with the name of a Berlin-based young company: hello-charles. Or, in short, simply “charles.”
The Berlin team, now consisting of over 70 smart minds, has delivered and, in our opinion, built a respectable product.
Advantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider hello-charles:
- Operational flexibility of the tool
- Strong focus on the eCommerce vertical, therefore high product relevance for lookalike customers and a clear ideal customer profile (D2C brands with 8-figure annual revenues)
- High-level customer support and service for every client
- Extensive chatbot features and logic
- An exceptional number of impressive flagship clients, testimonials, reviews, and case studies from German top-tier D2C brands
- API integrations with Shopify, Shopware, and others
- Multi-messenger capabilities for all relevant messaging channels (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp)
- Berlin-based startup with high funding volume and at least 18 months of runway since the last financing round
- Extremely smart founding team
- Outstanding branding, marketing, and sales
- Strong support analytics
- Trustworthiness through the approachability of the (founder) team at all relevant events, trade shows, and networking meetups
Disadvantages of the WhatsApp marketing provider hello-charles:
- No AI features
- Rather expensive
Software pricing
According to our information, you’ll pay at least €250.00 per month for this WhatsApp marketing provider, and there may also be additional conversation-based costs.
In any case, it’s definitely cool to be on “Team hello-charles,” attend their networking events, or be entertained on LinkedIn by the growing army of hello-charles employees.

None of the tools mentioned above is the right choice for every business. Every WhatsApp marketing tool has its strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to you to figure out what they are and what you need.
This blog post is meant to highlight the pros and cons of each solution so you can make an informed decision about which WhatsApp marketing tool is right for you.
Please also keep in mind that we're trying to bring some objective transparency to the still very young WhatsApp marketing market. But as a B2B SaaS company ourselves, we’ll never fully succeed.
