63% of tickets are resolved by AI — without a human
Across all 131 shops, the majority of inbound WhatsApp messages are handled end-to-end by AI. Order status, return requests, and FAQ-type queries account for the bulk of volume and are fully automatable. Human agents step in for escalations, complaints, and high-value upsell conversations.

WhatsApp now drives 63% of all support volume
Email is no longer the dominant support channel for DACH e-commerce. WhatsApp has overtaken it in sheer ticket volume — and customers respond faster, with a 94% read rate within 5 minutes. Instagram DM is growing as a secondary channel, especially for fashion and beauty brands.
WhatsApp newsletters open at 87% — email averages 22%
The same shops sending campaigns via both email and WhatsApp report a 4× open rate advantage for WhatsApp. Click-through rates follow a similar pattern: 34% on WhatsApp versus 3.1% for email. The gap is largest for cart recovery flows, where WhatsApp drives 5.8× more recovered revenue per send.

DACH Region
Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. All shops in the cohort have their primary storefront in one of these three markets.
Cohort & window. 131 e-commerce shops on the Chatarmin platform between June 2025 and June 2026. Shops must have processed a minimum of 500 WhatsApp conversations during the period to be included. Fashion (38%), beauty & health (27%), home & living (19%), and other verticals (16%).
Limitations
- Platform-only data — offline or phone interactions are not captured.
- Shops opted into data aggregation; self-selection may skew toward higher-volume, more sophisticated operators.
- Revenue attribution uses a 48-hour last-touch window and may overcount in multi-channel funnels.
- Results reflect DACH e-commerce; findings may not generalise to other regions or industries.
