Tidio's Free plan includes 50 Lyro conversations, once, not per month (tidio.com, accessed 12 October 2026). Limits like this are exactly where growing shops start looking for a Tidio alternative.
As an entry point, Tidio is strong. It gets tight with heavy WhatsApp traffic, more than ten people in support or the need for a German-language backend, which matters for shops selling into Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH).
Is there an alternative to Tidio?
Yes. For WhatsApp customer service connected to your shop, armincx by Chatarmin and Trengo fit, for German website chat Lime Connect (formerly Userlike). Pure Shopify shops usually end up with Gorgias. Small teams on a tight budget do well with Crisp.
Prices as shown on vendor pricing pages for visitors from Germany, accessed 12 October 2026, Gorgias 30 September 2026. *Where a vendor publishes euro prices, we show euros (German list prices, excluding VAT).* Gorgias and Intercom (Fin) only show US dollars, so your euro cost moves with the exchange rate.
| Tool | Best for | Entry price per vendor | Shop integration | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| armincx | WhatsApp-first AI service | Licence plus AI credits, no list price | Main channel | Shopify, Shopware, JTL, Xentral |
| Lime Connect | German website chat | Free €0, Pro from €87 | From Pro | Chat widget for Shopify and Shopware |
| Crisp | Small teams, small budget | Free, Mini €45 per workspace | From Essentials (€95) | Shopify, WooCommerce |
| Gorgias | Pure Shopify shops | $10 for 50 tickets | Yes, as a ticket channel | Shopify |
| Trengo | EU inbox from approx. 8 agents | Boost €299 for 10 users | Yes | Shopify, Shopware, WooCommerce, Magento 2 |
| Superchat | WhatsApp communication | Free €0, Basic €89 | Yes | No shop integration listed |

What Tidio does well, and where it gets tight
Tidio is the live chat darling of small shops, and rightly so.
- One inbox for everything: live chat, email, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp run together (tidio.com).
- Broad shop integration: the integrations directory lists Shopify, Shopware, Adobe Commerce and PrestaShop, among others (tidio.com/integrations).
- WhatsApp even on the Free plan: according to the pricing page, the integration is part of every plan.
- AI that takes action: according to the pricing page, Lyro also runs Actions, fully available with a paid Lyro quota. On top come native Shopify actions (tidio.com/pricing).
- AI that speaks German: according to the FAQ, Lyro runs on Claude by Anthropic and understands more than 45 languages, German included (tidio.com/faq).
It gets tight in four places:
- Lyro is built for website chat. According to the documentation, Lyro works in live chat by default. You switch on WhatsApp and other channels optionally (help.tidio.com).
- The backend does not speak German. According to the FAQ, the admin panel is only available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
- Ten seats is the ceiling. More seats only come with the Plus plan, from €300 a month plus usage.
- Three meters instead of one price. Human conversations, Lyro and Flows are billed separately.
According to the FAQ, Tidio offers live chat support on Plus and Premium; otherwise support runs by email. German-language support is not documented in the FAQ.
Tidio pricing and limits 2026: Free, Starter, Growth, Plus and Lyro
Source: tidio.com/pricing, view for Germany, accessed 12 October 2026. For visitors from the DACH region, Tidio shows euro prices with the same figures as its US dollar prices.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Conversations | Seats | Lyro |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | €0 | 50 | 10 | 50, one-off |
| Starter | €29 | €24.17 | 100 | 10 | 50, one-off |
| Growth | from €59 | from €49.17 | 250 to 2,000 | 10 | as an add-on |
| Plus | from €300 plus usage | from €300 plus usage | custom | custom | custom |
| Premium | on request | on request | custom | custom | from 3,000 |
Annual billing saves around 17 %, which Tidio promotes as "2 months free".
On top come the add-ons:
- Lyro: from €39 a month (€32.50 on annual billing) for 50 conversations, tiers up to 1,000.
- Flows: from €29 a month (€24.17 on annual billing) for 2,000 visitors reached.
- Branding removal: €20 a month (€16.67 on annual billing), on the Growth plan.
So model your volume against all three meters, not just the base plan.
For Lyro, Tidio states on its pricing page an average resolution rate of 75 % across its customers. That is a vendor figure without a published methodology. On the Premium plan, Tidio guarantees 50 %, and one G2 reviewer reports 55 % from their own operation (g2.com).
The Tidio alternatives in detail
armincx by Chatarmin
AI customer service that starts on WhatsApp and takes action in your shop.

Disclosure: armincx is our product.
Lime Connect (formerly Userlike)

- Best for: pure Shopify shops with predictable volume across email and chat.
Trengo

- Price: Free €0 (30 active contacts), Basic €89, Professional €149, Advanced €299 a month excluding VAT, German list prices (superchat.com).

Intercom (Fin)
AI agent billed per outcome.
- Price: Fin costs $0.99 per outcome, and on the Intercom helpdesk $29 per seat and month comes on top (fin.ai). Fin only shows prices in US dollars.
- Limit: every good AI answer adds to the bill. 3,000 resolved requests cost around $2,970 a month, for the AI alone.
- Best for: internationally operating brands with English-speaking support and budget.
Tidio reviews: what users write on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and the Shopify App Store
The reviews split into two worlds. Software review platforms mainly rate the product. On Trustpilot, many reviews are about billing and cancellation.
All figures accessed 12 October 2026.
- G2: 4.6 out of 5 from 1,962 reviews (g2.com)
- Capterra: 4.7 out of 5 from 590 reviews (capterra.com)
- Shopify App Store: 4.8 out of 5 from 1,354 reviews (apps.shopify.com)
- Trustpilot: 3.6 out of 5 from 226 reviews (trustpilot.com)
What users praise:
- Fast setup: on OMR Reviews, the leading software review platform in the DACH region, one user describes the widget as dead easy to embed and good-looking out of the box (omr.com).
- Relief in day-to-day operations: a German merchant writes in the Shopify App Store that after three months the tool handles customer service largely on its own (apps.shopify.com).
What users criticise:
- Features locked in pricier plans: one OMR reviewer sees this as a problem for small start-ups, but still rates value for money as good for mid-sized companies (omr.com).
- AI accuracy: in G2's AI agent evaluation, Tidio scores lowest on accuracy, at 87 % (g2.com).
- Price increases: a customer of four years reports on Trustpilot a significant increase with only a few days' notice (trustpilot.com). A single voice, but one that fits the pattern of Trustpilot criticism.
For context: in a G2 review mirrored elsewhere, the reviewer mentions receiving an invitation along with a gift card (findstack.com). Incentivised reviews are common on G2. Keep that in mind when comparing with Trustpilot.
armincx by Chatarmin vs Tidio: who armincx fits, and who it does not
The core difference is the starting point. Tidio thinks from the website widget outwards. armincx thinks from WhatsApp outwards and attaches an action in the shop or ERP system to every answer.
The top quarter of 140 active merchants (35 shops) automates 61.2 % of resolved tickets on average. Measured, not advertised.
armincx fits if:
- WhatsApp is a relevant channel for service requests, or should become one,
- your AI should handle cancellations, address changes or invoice delivery on its own,
- Shopware, JTL or Xentral run alongside or instead of Shopify,
- hosting in Frankfurt and an ISO-certified vendor are procurement requirements,
- you want German- and English-speaking support.
armincx does not fit if:
- you want to start for free today. Then Tidio Free, Crisp Free or Lime Connect Free are the better entry point.
- your volume sits below roughly 100 tickets a month,
- you want to compare a price list first, before talking to anyone,
- your support is almost entirely email.
When Tidio remains the right choice
For a small shop with website chat as its main channel, there are few reasons to switch. Up to ten seats, a team comfortable with an English backend and a volume that fits Growth: this is what Tidio is built for.
Switching pays off as soon as one of these thresholds is crossed:
- WhatsApp overtakes website chat,
- the team grows beyond ten people,
- the AI should also act in your ERP, for example JTL or Xentral. In that case, check beforehand whether Tidio can connect to your system.
Switching from Tidio: what you take with you and what you rebuild
Data comes out, logic does not. Tidio exports conversations, tickets, ratings and Lyro threads to BI tools, data warehouses or spreadsheets (tidio.com/features).
What you need to rebuild:
- flows and chatbot logic, because they live in the Tidio Flow Builder,
- the knowledge base for the AI, ideally cleaned up along the way,
- routing rules and opening hours in the new tool.
Sort out the WhatsApp number in advance. If it runs on the WhatsApp Business API, plan the move to the new provider. That way your customers do not have to save a new contact.
