PHC Skincare is a Californian and German skincare and beauty brand specializing in a wide range of skin and lip care products. They wanted to add WhatsApp to their list of marketing channels by targeting their already-existing email list.
The Challenge
PHC Skincare had not used WhatsApp for marketing in the past and did not have an existing audience group on the platform. Our goal was to attract a huge chunk of their email list and get them to subscribe to join the WhatsApp list.
What We Did
We sent a welcome flow chatstart link to email newsletter subscribers with an attractive 25% discount on products on the site as a welcome gift. Once customers clicked the link, they were automatically redirected to WhatsApp with a chatstart prompting an automated response asking for their emails. Once the customer provided this, they were given the discount code and a link to redeem it on the website.
This strategy successfully redirected users from Email to WhatsApp, and we built a comprehensive subscriber list that we can target for future campaigns.

The campaign recorded a whopping €92,359.63 in sales! The discount played a huge role in getting people to engage with the campaign, explore the website and make purchases. We also recorded significant engagement stats such as:
- 7,611 Enrollments
- 4,308 Clicks
- 825 Orders
- €12,13 Revenue per recipient
Our results clearly depict a 63.8% open rate, a 10.8% conversion on flow enrollments, and 19.1% on link clicks. In just under four months, PHC skincare has made a little over €174K from WhatsApp marketing with a € 5,488.84 spend.
Our Takeaway
Our strategy and the results we gathered prove that brands can successfully build a loyal customer base on WhatsApp without breaking the bank. The key is to build brand loyalty with your audience so they are willing to follow you to any platform you choose to monetize. A great incentive and a simple migration process make all the difference when building a customer base on a fresh platform. We are blown away by these results and eager to see what more we can do to retain these customers and encourage more sales via WhatsApp marketing.
