The Challenge
Banana Beauty’s main marketing strategy for the International Lipstick Day sale was email marketing using Klaviyo. However, they realized that a good portion of their core audience did not open the email or make a purchase. They wanted to reach this audience group on a more engaging and interactive platform like WhatsApp and get them to participate in the ongoing sales.
The Solution/Our Strategy
Banana Beauty partnered with our WhatsApp marketing agency to leverage the power of direct messaging. We created simple but highly targeted campaign messaging that outlined the details of the sale, the discounts available, and exclusive offers in French and German.
By understanding the cultural differences between both markets, we created unique content that appealed to both audiences. This included language-specific promotions and a unique tone/messaging for each audience. Once the messaging was right, we sent out this campaign to 9000 accounts.
We also implemented a system that allowed the brand to respond to queries and provide product recommendations. We made the buying process very easy and ensured audiences could purchase at the click of a button. We tracked and followed up on customers who indicated initial interest but were yet to purchase and repeated the offer, getting them to click and purchase.

The campaign lasted for two months. In this time, Banana Beauty recorded the following results:

Our campaign recorded a 6.4K overall open rate with over 1,300 clicks across both audiences, resulting in a 20.31% CTR, a major increase from what was recorded from the email marketing strategy.
124 Total Orders
124 total orders were placed directly from WhatsApp out of 9000 accounts targeted, resulting in a 1.38% conversion rate across both audience groups. These users followed the proposed purchasing journey by clicking the link in the campaign and using the discount code at checkout.
Over €5000 Amassed in Total Revenue
With 124 orders, Banana Beauty amassed over €5000 in total revenue by the end of the campaign. With this direct line of communication and engagement with their audience via Whatsapp, Banana Beauty expects repeat purchases within the next few months.
